I welcome you all here to our website and indeed Parsonstown, home of NUIM BARNHALL Rugby Football Club.
I hope that you will enjoy a good day of injury free rugby, as well as, our hospitality and friendship. It is both a privilege and great honour for me to be selected as President of the club I love, which I have loved ever since I stood on the field as a mini BLUE.
As President, I look forward to the coming season with great optimism; I feel a deep sense of pride and a sense of challenge, following in the footsteps of those, who have contributed so much to our wonderful club. I look forward to playing my part, in attempting to maintain their great tradition of service and progress.
I cannot wait for the battle field of the All-Ireland league to commence and am delighted to be travelling to and welcoming division 2A Clubs from around the country, after gaining promotion from division 2B last season. May I wish our Club Captain Barry Dunne the very best of luck. Barry has been a major influence in previous seasons, together with our superb director of rugby Eddie Fitzgerald and Head Coach Dennis Bowes, I feel we have all the ingredients for a successful season in Division 2A. I hope that the enthusiasm, team spirit and commitment of everyone in the Club will be rewarded, by the success it deserves on the playing field.
I wish all our captains and coaches from minis, youths and senior level, the very best of luck in their campaigns.
To our supporters who have travelled the length and breadth of the country, keep up the good work and I look forward to many enjoyable trips during the coming Season. New support is always welcome and the bar has always got refreshments ;).
To everyone who can’t play rugby, the Club still needs you and I would urge you to contact me to discuss, how you can put your skill set, to good use.
I would like to thank our loyal main sponsor Rye Valley Foods for their continued support over many years. They have been with us from small beginnings to our current A.I.L position. A special word of thanks also to our sub-sponsors Interface Carpet Tiles and Chemical direct, and everyone who advertises in our yearbook and around the club.
I would also like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by our new development, as we strive to upgrade our facilities to be the best around. I would also like to acknowledge and thank the development committee for all their hard work and look forward to seeing the new development as it progresses.
No club like ours survives and prospers without a lot of hard work. Our executive committee and sub committee members deserve great credit for their part in our success over recent years. I look forward to working with you this season.
I would also like to make a special mention to our friend Paul Deering (Leinster branch president) and wish him the best of luck for the coming season. It’s all BLUE 😉
Finally, No man is an island. I would also like to thank my darling understanding wife Giena for her support and allowing me to do this job of my dreams, along with my fantastic boys Dean and Rhys… Daddy will be home next year !
