Its recruitment time in MU Barnhall as the ladies teams prepare for a new rugby season with two adult squads playing Leinster League Division 1 and Division 4. With pre-season training set to start the MU Barnhall Ladies (Babes as they are known), have set themselves the task of recruiting and training as many new players as possible before the start of the new league season in September.
The Ladies have been very successful contesting many finals, the Leinster Development League final in their first year and the Leinster Division 3 League final twice winning the competition in 2011 and then the Division 2 in 2019. The Ladies team are known in the club for their enthusiasm and spirit that they show both on and off the pitch.
This year they will be hoping for further success when they enter the Leinster league Div 1. Between September and Christmas the Ladies will play up to 10 league matches and are aiming to use this time to bring in as many new players as possible. The Ladies pre-season training will aim to teach players all the basics in rugby, from how to catch a ball to scrummaging techniques, tackling and everything in between.
Whether you’re an experienced rugby player or a complete novice who’s never played a sport before, the Ladies have a place for you. If you would like to give rugby a go whether to play or just to get fit, meet new people and be involved then contact the team manager Aisling McCormack 086 371 8003
