Wednesday last saw a delegation from the French town of Canet-en-Roussillon in the Catalan region of France which is 20 mins from Perpignan visit NUIM. They are here for the Twin Town signing ceremony between Canet-en-Roussillon and Maynooth on Saturday in St. Patrick’s College Maynooth at 4pm.
The Delegation from Canet-en-Roussillon was made up of:
Ms. Emmanuelle Garbani de Lacvivier, Councillor delegated to Twinning.
Mrs. Alexandra Maillochaud, Councillor for festivities and sport.
Mr. Jocelyn Hodapp, Communications Director, Mayor’s office.
They came along to NUIM and with members of Maynooth community council and met with:
Professor Philip Nolan, President of NUIM
Mr. Eddie Fitzgerald, Director of Rugby NUIM Barnhall RFC
Mr. Dennis Bowes, Rugby Development Officer NUIM and Head Coach NUIM Barnhall RFC
The town of Canet-en-Roussillon is very passionate about its Rugby and were delighted to meet with some of the NUIM Scholarship players past and present which included:

Rob Holt, Leinster U20
Michael Brown, Leinster U20
Sarah Crosbie, Leinster
Sinead Ryan, Leinster
Rugby and swimming are the primary sports played in the town of Canet-en-Roussillon.
The town is very keen to have a close bond in the future between NUIM and the local University in Perpignan.
They are also looking to have close ties with NUIM Barnhall RFC and the local rugby club of Canet-en-Roussillon, which NUIM Barnhall RFC are delighted to be involved in. NUIM Barnhall RFC wishes them well and looks forward to a close relationship in the future.
