Captain’s Message

It is once  again a massive honour for me and my family to captain NUIM Barnhall RFC for the 2013-14 season.

I would like to offer a warm welcome to all players, supporters and officials to Parsonstown and the North Campus of NUI Maynooth.

I would like to extend a big thanks to Eddie FitzGerald, our  director of rugby, who continues to work tirelessly to improve  rugby in all areas of our club.

I would like to give a  big thanks to all our sponsors who have stuck by us in these  difficult times.  Indeed, yet again, we have  continued  to  increase the number of  sponsors  which is a great tribute to the hard work of the marketing  committee. Without your support we would be  unable to continue to thrive as a club.

I would also like  to thank all the committees who do so much work to  make the club function. As players, we particularly appreciate the  work done by Christy Dunne, Sean Kirby and the  grounds committee.

After three progressive seasons, we, as a club and players, are determined to rise through the ranks of Irish rugby.

The  success of our Premier A team  in gaining promotion to division 2A of the All Ireland League  was a fine achievement and appreciated by all our supporters.

The brave decision of the under 21 team to participate in the JP Fanagan premier league last year was rewarded with the winning of the JP Fanagan Premier B  Super 6’s League . Well done to David Kirk, Nathan Lawless, Anto Larkin and, of course, a fine team

This season the senior squad has retained all the management team from last year. My best wishes to Dennis Bowes, Eoin Hogan and Jim Nolan .

This should be hugely beneficial to our young squad.

My best wishes to all the players, coaches, managers and helpers of the Premier B team,  Development team  and the Butchers team  and to our youths, minis, ladies and girls rugby teams.

We have an enormous number of teams hitting the field each week.

On behalf of all the players in the club, I would like to tell the development committee how pleased we are to see the work that has started on the new dressing rooms and  gym. This is a great signal for the progression of our club.

Finally, congratulations to our incoming President Michael Mousley. Let’s hope we give you and all our supporters plenty to be proud of.

C’MON THE BLUE

Yours in Rugby

Barry Dunne
